Emergency Planning

Do you have suitable emergency plans in place to protect your occupants?

Emergency Planning

We are experts at drafting Emergency Plans which are designed to suit your business premises and organisational structure. Research shows that a feature of fire disasters is the delay in people starting to move to safety as they do not respond quickly to fire alarm sounders. This “time to start” often exceeds the time needed to move to safety. It is essential that there is an effective means of initiating and controlling the evacuation.

Members of the public who are not familiar with the premises might need to be guided to a suitable exit. They might be disorientated or unaware of the location of exits, and if they arrived by car, they are likely to try to return to it. People tend to follow the same route they used to enter the building. If parents and children are separated, they tend to seek each other out so as to leave together.

It is essential that a clear Emergency Plan is established to manage the response to fire or fire alarms and the following evacuation.

Generic fire safety and fire warden training are critical for employees to develop individual responsibility and understanding. However, the creation of emergency plans forms the framework which ensures that individual responsibility and understanding are pulled together into a holistic plan. Our team have launched emergency plans in many premises types and will be able to support any transition and upskilling required.

Do you have complete confidence in your staff training?

Fire Safety Training

The legal framework clearly defines the responsibility of employers to ensure that their staff are adequately trained on what to do in the event of fire. We currently offer three training modules which can be tailored to suit your businesses needs and priorities

Fire Safety Awareness Training; should be provided to all new employees as part of their induction and thereafter as refresher training once a year. This is typically a Ninety minute course with a short multiple-choice test to confirm understanding on completion.

Fire Warden Training; is required for employees that are nominated because of their supervisory/managerial capacity. They should receive training commensurate to their responsibilities with refresher training completed on a yearly basis. This is typically a three-hour course with a short multiple-choice test on completion.

Fire Safety Management Training; is recommended for those who are responsible for overseeing aspects of fire safety on larger premises or multiple site locations as part of their role. It is often assumed that senior operations managers or facility managers are clear about their responsibilities. However, when questioned, they have rarely had any structured training on the subject. This course will provide a thorough understanding of Fire Safety Management, its scope and necessity.
