Fire Risk Assessment

A suitable and sufficient fire risk assessment is a legal requirement. We take pride in offering services which are benchmarked against industry best practice. As such; all our fire risk assessments are completed in accordance to the PAS 79:2020 guidance which is a Publicly Available Specification published by the British Standards Institute.

The booking of the site visit will be at a mutually agreed time convenient to you. You will receive a full list of documentation required for inspection prior to the site visit so that you can be adequately prepared. The Assessor will carry-out the site visit in a professional and courteous manner. The focus of the site visit will be to review three key subjects; prevailing risks and precautions on the premises, maintenance and testing records, and safety management processes.

On completion of the site visit, the Assessor will provide a summarised debrief of his findings to the responsible person or their designated representative. A report will be submitted in the agreed timescales which will include an action plan detailing deficiencies and specific remedials with supporting photographic evidence.

Does your building have a documented fire strategy in place?

Fire Strategy Review

Is a fire strategy a legal requirement?

No, however given the recommendations made in the post Grenfell Hackitt Review, most property owners or estate management organisations are now completing a full review of their fire safety documentation and commissioning retrospective fire strategies if the current information is incorrect or not available at all. Our consultants have the technical knowledge to support your business in completing a review or creation of new documents.

Regulation 38 of the Building Regulations 2010 requires that the fire safety information for any newly constructed or extended building must be assembled and given to the owner of the premises. However, this does not account for older buildings which were constructed earlier and nor does it specify any format to which information should be supplied. Consequently, information is often difficult to obtain, fragmented or completely missing. A documented fire strategy summarises the core information and assumptions made at the design stage and reflects the ‘as built’ finished project. It is a technical document written with a specific building in mind and should be reviewed and updated in line with any material changes to a building during its life-cycle. The contents reflect the fire safety precautions and processes for the building. It considers all aspects of the building’s fire safety features including; construction method, compartmentation strategy, means of escape, means of warning and management responsibilities etc.
